Based on a story published by Small Screen, one person who is involved in the show has informed the outlet it “cannot confirm nor deny what’s happening with OBX S3. What I will say is that S3 won’t come out this year.” The show will premiere in September of 2021.
A report by Small Screen claims that an anonymous source associated with filming Outer Banks Season said that season 3 will most likely be released in 2022’s middle If things go according to plan. The source has not confirmed the fact that the plot to be written for Season 4 is already being written. Small Screen also reported that Outer Banks Season 3 is being developed at Netflix.
According to production information, the filming of Outer Banks Season 3 is set to resume in Charleston, South Carolina from February 16 through August 19, 2022. Chase Stokes also shared an update on Instagram and said that filming has concluded to film OBX 3. But, the dates for filming can alter, so it’s likely that there aren’t any delays due to the current pandemic.
What Happened in Outer Banks Season 2:
Much like Season 1 Outer Banks Season 2 ended with a near-death experience for the Pogues. The majority of the Netflix series’ second episode was a follow-up of John B., Sarah, JJ, Kiara, and Pope as they attempted to find and recover the missing Cross of Santo Domingo.
The finale of the season saw the cast sneaking onto the vessel the Coastal Venture and attempting to get the cross. The crew failed in an uncontrollable shootout and managed to escape in the lifeboat. Although the Pogues were once more empty-handed, however, the event concluded with a positive note in which they celebrated being with each other and secure — for the time being.

When can Outer Banks season 3 arrive on Netflix?
Okay, let’s make an educated estimate. Season 2 started filming in August 2020, and was completed in the first week of April 2021. The filming took approximately seven months. After that, Netflix announced the mystery second season of the drama just more than three months after that on July 20, 2021. Season 3 began filming at the beginning of February.
If the schedule for filming remains the same this time around, the production will likely conclude around September 20, 2022. This means that we may not meet John B and his crew until the month of December. This is the case if Netflix decides to launch the show during winter.

The conclusion in Outer Banks Season 2 was shocking. It was disclosed the fact that John B.’s dad, Big John, is still alive, hiding in the shadows. The public believed that he was dead after the revelation that Ward killed him in the middle of the sea for not agreeing with his cut in the golden coin that was imposed by the Royal Merchant.
The scene featured him begging Carla Limbrey to help his son. It’s highly likely to be the case that John B. will reunite with his father in Season 3.
The Pogues were unable to retrieve their precious gold crosses from Sarah’s parents who are the Camerons however, they were able to escape from the cargo ship.
They landed on a deserted island in the Caribbean The island is referred to as “Poguelandia”, and it appears that they aren’t giving up on obtaining the gold and cross returned to the Camerons. It’s also possible that we’ll see John B. and Sarah’s relationship continue to grow and also observe Kiara, Pope, JJ and Cleo create their personal relationships.
It is possible that we will witness the gang returning to their home in North Carolina, but they are likely to remain focused on the mission to recover the treasures. It’s not clear what John B’s father will do and how Carla Limbrey will help John B. and his companions get this treasure. However, the possible storylines look promising. in an interview with EW the show’s director Josh Pate confirmed that “John B’s relationship with his dad is a huge theme [to shape Season 3].”
